Letter #2: New Year New Me?
Dear all,
I can't believe that this year has come to an end. It was certainly an interesting one. A lot of us may want to forget this year, while others' may want to remember this year, cherish it, and will likely miss it dearly. This year was filled with lots of happiness, heartbreak, positive & negative vibes...you could say it was definitely a mixed bag. 2016 definitely flew by, I think we can all agree on that note.
This year had a way of taking everyone aback. It hurt us, humbled us, brought us happiness, joy, and so many other things. A lot of people I know say that 2016 was depressing and just damn hard. Hearing all of this, I realized that all this negative stuff about 2016 is kind of like a rumor. One person made a point and then suddenly it started spreading everywhere, like a fire. It spreaded up until the point where a majority of the world agrees on the fact that this year was just a horrible one. Sure, I agree with that...but this year has also helped us and we tend to not realize that because of all this negativity year round. For one thing, I assume this year has helped us humble in a way, if not you then it certainly has had that affect on me. Instead of focusing on the terrible things that've happened think about the positive things that happened, the events that made you happy, moments spent with loved ones, etc. Focus on the positive and soon the negatives will be small in number compared to it :)
For anyone who does New Year's Resolutions and has a difficult time sticking to them, then my advice to you would be to make your resolutions as realistic as possible. If anything, try having ONE resolution that you feel like you'll be able to accomplish. A majority of people's resolutions will be to lose weight, become successful, rich, etc. Having long-term goals like these requires short-term goals as well. If you wanna become successful then define what success means to you, to others. In the long run you'll realize that in order to achieve your goals you need to take baby steps, before you realize it these resolutions will soon become a reality. So if you do or don't do New Year's Resolutions then you might wanna give it a try...one goal at a time. I know if you keep at it and take small steps you'll certainly achieve! :)
To end this off I just want to wish everyone a Happy New Year's and I hope the coming year is filled with lots of joy, happiness, and love for all of you <3 Keep smiling and stay positive! :)
Lots of love,
Maryam x.
